Drivers licences & photo ID
In order to renew your drivers licence or request photo ID, you must be a member in good standing with the AMA, CAA, or AAA. Not a member? Join AMA now.
A valid driver's licence is needed to drive in Alberta, and is also widely accepted as a standard form of picture ID.
AMA Registries offers services for drivers and non-drivers
Come into any AMA Registry centre when you want to:
- Renew your drivers licence
- Exchange your existing out of province drivers licence for an Alberta licence
- Order photo ID, if you're a non-driver
- Request your driver's abstract
