Change of name for driver's licence

What you need to change your name on your driver’s licence
- Your AMA membership card
- Your driver’s licence
- One piece of acceptable identification
- Proof of the name change – i.e. marriage certificate; birth certificate; legal change of name certificate
You will receive an interim driver’s licence
The registry agent will retain your old licence and provide you with a temporary interim licence to use until your new driver’s licence arrives in the mail (up to 21 days).
Your interim licence will not have a photograph. If you anticipate needing photo ID during this period, we recommend you carry with you some other form of photo ID (e.g. passport).

- If you renew your licence at the same time, you pay the renewal fee only.
