Course Overview*

This course is geared toward drivers who would like to improve their proactive driving skills or brush up on company policies and safe driving procedures.

The course is highly interactive with the instructor acting as a facilitator, a discussion leader and a resource person who guides and encourages group learning.

*An 80 per cent pass mark in this course results in a certificate that entitles the participant to a 3-demerit credit on their driver abstract.

Time Breakdown (Class size of 14)

Hours to complete: 6.5

Introduction: 30 minutes
A brief introduction identifies areas of interest and learning regarding traffic safety issues.

Presentation/group discussion: 2 hours 30 minutes
This session covers topics such as the Highway Transportation System, driver, vehicle and environmental issues.

Lunch

Presentation/group discussion: 3 hours
This session covers driver fitness and impairments, risk perception and management, and driver solutions and action plans.

Final knowledge test: 30 minutes
A final knowledge test is written at the end of the day.
