The Safe Performance Backing course addresses the problem of backing incidents. Participants learn through a combination of in-class and in-vehicle sessions.
In-vehicle session focus on normal urban or rural driving that incorporate backing activities. These are designed to enhance a driver's backing skill and knowledge and increase awareness of common backing problems.
Time Breakdown (1:2 instructor-client ratio)
Hours to complete: 6.5
Classroom session: 2 hours 30 minutes Consists of magnitude of problems, backing hazards and strategies and backing skills.
Vision test
Vision test is including during the class session.
On-road evaluation: 1 hour Consists of a one-hour drive in urban or rural setting. Instructor observes and evaluates behaviours including numerous backing manoeuvres.
In-vehicle skills session: 2 hours
Consists of skills training and backing training.
Remedial on-road training: 1 hour Addresses performance shortfalls that were highlighted in the road evaluation with a coaching/training session. A written report is also compiled based on the road evaluation and the remedial training session.
Attitudinal assessment An attitudinal assessment is made during the in-vehicle sessions.

Our Safe Performance Backing course is also available as an interactive DVD. Employees can improve their driving knowledge conveniently, at their own pace, right in the office. Staff can review one chapter at a time, or watching the entire video all at once. Training can be worked into any schedule or safety meeting. Each DVD comes with an interactive facilitator guide and quiz.
