CAA Dollars® Program Terms & Conditions

Show Your Card & Save® benefits and CAA Dollars® accumulated under the Program are operated by the individually owned and operated Canadian Automobile Association (“CAA”) Clubs. The terms and conditions outlined below apply to the Show Your Card & Save Program and the CAA Dollars Program (collectively referred to as the “Program”) at the Alberta Motor Association (“AMA”).

As a valid AMA member in good standing, you’re automatically eligible to earn CAA Dollars at the participating organizations who are part of the Program (“Partners”) and to redeem the CAA Dollars accumulated in your AMA membership account.

CAA members visiting Alberta are able to present their CAA membership card to accumulate CAA Dollars with Partners in Alberta. The CAA Dollars accumulated at Partners located in Alberta will then be transferred from AMA to the appropriate CAA member’s account at the CAA club that CAA member belongs to.  Likewise, AMA members can present their AMA membership card at Partners in other provinces of Canada to accumulate CAA Dollars.

CAA Dollars are accumulated each time you present your valid AMA membership card at any of the Partners. It is the responsibility of the AMA member to present their valid AMA membership card to partners to obtain the benefits. Currently, Partners that enable you to accumulate CAA Dollars include the companies listed below under the header CAA Dollar Partners. Please note that the Partners and their offers may change without notice. The CAA Dollars accumulated through Partners will be stored in the AMA primary member’s account in AMA’s membership system. GST on your purchases, if applicable, is included in the total CAA Dollars stored in your membership account. For each CAA Dollar accumulated in the membership account, the value at time of redemption will equal $1.00.

AMA may cancel your already collected CAA Dollars if the issuing Partner advises AMA to cancel those CAA Dollars.  For example, if you returned products for which the CAA Dollars were issued. AMA may refuse to record or honour CAA Dollars in your account, or if already recorded, we may cancel them, if we cannot confirm that the CAA Dollars were properly issued or obtained. Neither AMA nor any Partner is responsible for any promotion or offer for CAA Dollars which is no longer in effect.

AMA Registries: Earn 10 CAA Dollars with the purchase of a Minute Book. Visit an AMA centre and speak to an AMA Registries agent or call 1-866-989-6370 for details.

AMJ Campbell: AMA members who book their move with AMJ Campbell online at www.caa.ca/amj or by calling 1-888-AMJ-MOVE (265-6683) will earn 100 CAA Dollars. The CAA Dollars earned will be credited after 90 days following your move date. Your valid AMA membership card must be presented at time of booking. This AMA member offer is only valid on all "Out-of-Province Moves" within Canada and to the United States of America, with the exception of Hawaii & Puerto Rico. Offer is not currently available to members of CAA Quebec or CAA Saskatchewan. International moves other than the USA are not eligible for this AMA member offer. AMA members that are moving to the USA are not eligible for the 100 CAA Dollars but in exchange will receive an additional $100 in instant savings.

Best Western:  AMA members registered in the CAA Preferred^sm Best Western Rewards® Program that choose CAA dollars as your preferred loyalty currency, will be credited CAA dollars in $10 increments which will be credited to your AMA membership account. Members may sign up by registering at www.bestwestern.com/caa. 

Earn 10 points for every dollar spent on qualified* hotel room rates. Each dollar spent on a Best Western room converts to 10 points on the Best Western Rewards card. Once you earn the equivalent of 10 CAA Dollars in Best Western Rewards points (2,210 Best Western Rewards points), the CAA Dollars earned will then be transferred into your AMA membership account. CAA MasterCard®* Credit Cards provided by Bridgewater Bank: CAA MasterCard credit cards earn rebates in the form of CAA Dollars. The amount of the rebate is based on the type of card and is as follows:
CAA Premium MasterCard: 1.5% of net purchases, plus an additional 1% of net purchases made at a preferred partner participating in the Bridgewater Bank MasterCard Credit Card CAA Dollars rebate program (Program), to a maximum annual spend limit of $50,000. ("annual" means the 12 consecutive account statement ("Statement") billing cycles, commencing with the billing cycle reflected in the Statement dated in February and ending with the billing cycle reflected in the Statement dated in the following January.)
CAA No Fee MasterCard: 1% of net purchases, plus an additional 1% of net purchases made at a preferred partner participating in the Program
CAA Low Rate MasterCard: 0.5% of net purchases CAA Dollars are earned on net purchases only. CAA Dollars are not earned on cash advances, convenience/balance transfer cheques, payments & credits, interest, fees & other charges and cash-like transactions incurred on the account. CAA Dollars are not earned on any purchases prohibited by the laws of Canada or any other country. From time to time, Bridgewater Bank may offer cardholders special promotions or additional opportunities to earn additional CAA Dollars. Cardholders will qualify to earn rebates as soon as their card is activated and purchases made, unless the cardholder’s account is not in good standing at the time of calculation, the cardholder’s account has been suspended or terminated, the primary cardholder is not a permanent resident of Canada, or the primary cardholder does not have a CAA membership in good standing. Dandy Auto/Marine/R.V.: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

Dash Automotive Ltd.: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

Husky Energy:  Upon presentation of your AMA membership card at time of purchase, AMA members earn CAA Dollars when you pay for eligible purchases* at participating Husky and Mohawk retail locations. Earn 1 1/2 cents per litre in CAA Dollars on total fuel purchases of more than 250 litres in a month. Earn 1 cent per litre in CAA Dollars on total fuel purchases between 55 and 250 litres in a month. Earn ½-cent per litre in CAA Dollars on total fuel purchases less than 55 litres in a month. Earn ½-cent per litre in CAA Dollars for all volumes, fleet, and non-cardlock fuel sales**. Earn 3% in CAA Dollars on car washes and eligible purchases made at the Convenience Store and Husky House Resturants. Earn 4% in CAA Dollars of the total amount spent at Husky House Restaurants.

*Eligible purchases shall not include liquor, tobacco, lottery, gift cards and certificates and payment of in-station accounts or Route Commander (cardlock) purchases. Valid membership card must be presented at time of purchase. In an instance where you forget your membership card please submit your receipt to any AMA centre within 30 days and the CAA Dollars will be applied to your membership account. Receipts older than 30 days will not be accepted. ** Fleet purchases are distinguished by form of payment, and these include the Husky Fleet card or an accepted third-party fleet card.

Kingsgate Automotive Ltd.: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

Kirkham Automotive: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

Monza Auto: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

Optimum Auto Service: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

Pro-Tech Transmissions Ltd: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

Reliance Protectron Security Services: AMA members earn 50 CAA Dollars when you purchase an Essential Home package or Enhanced Home package. Your valid AMA membership card number must be quoted when you speak with a Reliance Protectron Life Safety Consultant at 1-800-661-5535 or enter your valid AMA membership card number at www.Protectron.com/ama at time of purchase. Offer available on a new security install with three-year protection plan at $30.95 per month plus applicable taxes. CAA Dollars earned will be credited within 60 days following your installation date. The CAA Dollars offer is only available to AMA/CAA members residing in Canada. Offer cannot be combined with any other special offers.

Sherlock's Automotive Repair: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio: As an AMA member, purchase and activate a new radio on a new account and earn 20 CAA Dollars on a 1 year subscription or activate for 2 years or more and earn 40 CAA Dollars. Complete the online rebate form within 90 days after the radio has been activated. CAA Dollars will only be applied to the AMA primary member’s account after maintaining active service on the subscription for at least 90 days and has activated a SIRIUS radio on a minimum one year subscription term. If the SIRIUS subscription for which an AMA member received CAA Dollars is cancelled prior to 90 consecutive days of service, the AMA member will not receive payment of CAA Dollars.

Smart Brands Auto Inc.: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

Teleflora: AMA members earn 20% in CAA Dollars on every order placed through the Teleflora CAA online store (www.teleflora.com/caa) or by calling the member toll-free telephone number at 1-866-488-4628. You must quote your valid AMA membership card at the time the order is placed. CAA Dollars earned will be stored on the primary AMA membership account. Offer is not available at Teleflora affiliate locations. Taxes and delivery/handling fees are extra and are not subject to earning CAA Dollars. Prices quoted on website are subject to change without notice but price increases will not apply to orders that have already been placed. Offer cannot be combined with any other coupon offer. Offer is not valid on prior purchases. All major credit cards are accepted.

The Tire Warehouse: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

Vic's Service Ltd.: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

West End Tire Ltd.: Earn 5% in CAA Dollars on the total amount spent (before taxes) up to a maximum of 50 CAA Dollars. CAA Dollars take approximately 45 days to appear on your AMA membership account.

CAA Dollars can be redeemed at AMA Travel, AMA Driver Education, AMA Member Services, AMA Registries, or AMA Insurance for AMA products and services available through these business units, excluding travellers cheques, foreign currency, VISA Money Cards, monthly insurance payments, on-scene payments for Roadside Assistance surcharges, on-scene payments for Roadside Assistance for extra mileage, CAA Battery Service. The CAA Dollars stored in your membership account can be contributed to support traffic safety programs under the CAA Foundation for Traffic Safety initiative. A minimum of 10 CAA Dollars must be redeemed toward products and services available through AMA Travel, AMA Driver Education or AMA Insurance. A minimum amount of CAA Dollars is not required for redemption towards your next AMA membership renewal fee or to obtain products and services available through AMA. The value at time of redemption of each CAA Dollar is equal to one Canadian Dollar, however CAA Dollars must be redeemed for products and services available through AMA - no cash given.

CAA Dollars will automatically be applied to the balance owing annually for your AMA Primary membership renewal fee, unless you, the Primary member or spousal Associate members contact AMA and indicate otherwise. CAA Dollars redeemed for the annual membership renewal fee and CAA Dollars remaining in your account will be represented on the annual renewal statement that you receive from AMA. If you believe that the balance showing as “Remaining CAA Dollars” on your annual AMA membership renewal statement is incorrect, you must notify AMA within sixty (60) days of the renewal date or the amount shown will be deemed correct, except for any CAA Dollars that may have been applied to your account in error. If you request, CAA Dollars can be accumulated and carried over from one renewal year into the next without redemption being required.

To inquire about the balance of CAA Dollars in your membership account, check your CAA Dollars balance online (www.ama.ab.ca/caadollars), visit Member Services at your nearest AMA Centre, or call 1-800-222-6400. CAA Dollars can be redeemed electronically at the point of purchase in AMA’s Member Services and AMA Travel for membership renewal fees, the purchase of new memberships or for products available through AMA’s Member Services, which include but are not limited to items such as atlases, luggage, and miscellaneous travel supplies. Additionally, CAA Dollars can be redeemed for generic AMA gift certificates that can be purchased for others through Member Services. AMA assumes no responsibility for any loss, damages, injuries or personal harm or expense relating to any AMA product or service which you choose to redeem your CAA Dollars for.

As a Primary AMA member, you may purchase AMA Associate membership cards for other family members in your household. The Associate member will then be eligible to receive all AMA products and services, including the accumulation of CAA Dollars which will be stored in the AMA Primary member’s account. Both the Primary member and spousal Associate are eligible to redeem CAA Dollars. Other Associate members require consent from the Primary member prior to redemption.

In the event that you, as a Primary AMA member, do not renew your AMA membership by your yearly renewal date, you will only be entitled to redeem CAA Dollars accumulated on your membership account up to the date of your renewal and redemption or transfer of such must occur within six months of your renewal date or accumulated CAA Dollars are forfeited. If your lapsed AMA membership is reinstated within six months, you will be entitled to redeem CAA Dollars accumulated on your membership account. If you choose to purchase a new membership instead of reinstating your original membership, you will only be able to redeem the CAA Dollars accumulated on your membership account up to your renewal date.

The transfer of any balance of CAA Dollars to another CAA club will only occur after three months notice from you that you now belong to another CAA Club. In case of divorce/relationship breakdown, and with AMA’s authorization, the Primary AMA member may release accumulated CAA Dollars in their AMA membership account to an Associate cardholder on their account or to another Primary cardholder. The Primary AMA member in whose membership account the CAA Dollars reside, will bear ownership of the CAA Dollars even if the CAA Dollars were accumulated on the Associate card(s). In the case of death, the CAA Dollars accumulated under a primary AMA membership can be transferred to an AMA membership belonging to a family member of the deceased. In the event that a family member of the deceased does not have a primary AMA membership, a portion of the CAA Dollars in the deceased AMA member’s account can be used to set up a new Primary membership for a person named by the executor of the estate and any remaining CAA Dollars in the deceased AMA member’s account would be deposited into this new membership account.

You consent to AMA’s collection and use of your membership information in accordance with our Privacy Commitment. AMA’s Privacy Policy outlines AMA’s ongoing commitment to protect the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information. Our policy complies with the requirements of the Personal Information Protection Act of Alberta. Neither AMA, it’s affiliates nor any of their respective officers, employees ,directors, agents or contractors have any responsibility or liability for any expense, loss, cost, injury, damage, delay, travel cancellation, accident or any other matter or thing whatsoever, however suffered or caused (including compensatory, incidental, indirect, special, punitive, consequential or exemplary damages or damages for loss of income or profits), directly or indirectly arising out of or related to (i) the Program; (ii) any failure, delay or decision by AMA in administering the CAA Dollars Program or amending these Terms and Conditions or the basis on which you can redeem CAA Dollars; (iii) any offer, representation, statement or claim about the CAA Dollars Program, the Show Your Card & Save Program, and about any Partner or their products or services.

AMA may change these Terms and Conditions and/or any aspect of the Program without notice. For example but without limitation, we may add, delete or change Partners, accumulation or redemption details regarding CAA Dollars. If you default on your AMA membership, become bankrupt, commit fraud, misrepresent any information, violate any Terms and Conditions, abuse the program privileges or act in any other way to the detriment of AMA or the Partners, we may, without affecting our other rights, disclose such information requested by proper authorities, terminate your membership and/or cancel your CAA Dollars. In the event that you default on payments for your AMA MasterCard, CAA Dollars accumulated on those purchases may be revoked. If a CAA Dollar expires or is cancelled for any reason, it becomes void without compensation.

These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between you and AMA regarding your participation in accumulating and redeeming CAA Dollars. Except as expressly contained in these Terms and Conditions, there are no conditions, representations, warranties, express or implied, statutory or otherwise. AMA is the final authority as to the interpretation of these Terms and Conditions and as to any other questions or disputes regarding the Program. CAA Dollars have no cash, monetary or other value and cannot be converted into any currency. All materials and any notices from us will be sent to your address as recorded in our membership account system; please notify AMA if your address changes. The Program, all rules and Terms and Conditions is governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining Terms and Conditions.

If CAA Dollars are applied to the purchase of airline tickets, you are responsible for and must pay all taxes and service fees (including sales, GST, departure and transportation taxes and fees, airport improvement fees, or other taxes), excess baggage charges, customs charges, health or other inspection fees, fuel surcharges and other non-ticket costs or charges which may be imposed. All tickets issued are subject to the terms and conditions applicable to the fare basis.
