Protect yourself when buying a used car. Find out if the vehicle has previously been reported stolen, written off, or involved in a collision.
Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act Reports do not include name and personal information for the vehicle's current and previous owners.
CARFAX
Using the Vehicle Identification Number, a CARFAX vehicle history search report provides:
- Details on whether the vehicle has been reported stolen, rebuilt or salvaged.
- A chronological look at the number of times the vehicle was registered.
- Odometer reading (if reported).

CarProof VERIFIED
Provides the following data about cars that are, or have been, registered in Canada:
- Canadian registration history.
- Lien search status.
- Export data.
- Insurance records, which includes any reported insurance claims (except BC).
- Odometer reading (if reported)

Alberta Vehicle Information Report (VIR)
Learn about a vehicle's history and make an informed decision before buying or selling a vehicle previously registered in Alberta. Find out:
- Whether there's a lien on the vehicle.
- The odometer reading (if reported).
- Vehicle registration details.
Note: The VIR provides information about a vehicle's registration history for Alberta only.
If the vehicle identification number provided is incorrect, or if the vehicle has never been registered in Alberta, you will be charged for the VIR even though you will not obtain results.
