Records are confidential and can only be ordered by eligible individuals . Your document or search will be processed and mailed to you. Genealogical searches
Alberta Vital Statistics has:
- Alberta birth records from approximately 1850 to present
- Alberta death and marriage records from approximately 1890 to present
Search letters
- Confirms whether an event has or has not been recorded with Alberta Vital Statistics
- No actual information is provided or confirmed; no further information will be provided or released
- You would typically order a search letter only for specific reasons
- Anyone can order a search letter - there are no eligibility requirements
Ready to order a genealogical search or search letter? Remember to bring:
- Your AMA membership card.
- One piece of personal identification.
- Information about yourself, including your eligibility
to apply for the certificate (your relationship to the individual on the certificate).
- Information about the birth, death, marriage, date and place of the event (when the event did not occur in Alberta, contact the jurisdiction where the event occurred to complete your request.)
