Government photo ID for non drivers

In order to request a government-issued ID card, you must be a member in good standing with the AMA, CAA or AAA. Not a member? Become one now.

  • Government-issued ID cards are for Alberta residents who do not or cannot hold a valid Alberta operator's licence. 
  • They are clearly marked for identification purposes only and do not entitle the person to operate a motor vehicle under any circumstance.

Order your photo ID card in person from any AMA centre

You must come in person to any AMA centre and remember to bring:

  • Your AMA membership card.
  • Two pieces of acceptable identification.
  • Proof of Alberta residency.
  • A signed parental consentpdf form, if you are under the age of 18 (parent must be present for first time application).

First time applicants must supply proof of Canadian residency.
