In order to apply for your parking placard, you must be a member in good standing with the AMA, CAA or AAA. Not a member? Join AMA now.
- A disabled parking placard allows you to park in designated disabled parking zones.
- To qualify, you must be unable to walk more than 50 metres.

Unable to apply in person?
You can send someone with a letter of authorization to apply for or renew on your behalf.
If you have never held an Alberta Operator's licence or been entered into the Alberta Registries System, the person applying on your behalf will also require 2 items of your personal identification; i.e. birth certificate, passport, citizenship card, and one item that shows your proof of residency - utility bill, land title document, etc.
The letter of authorization is used in lieu of your signature.
Disabled non-residents visiting Alberta
- Can use a valid parking placard from their home jurisdiction.
