Drivers licences & photo ID

In order to renew your drivers licence or request photo ID, you must be a member in good standing with the AMA, CAA, or AAA. Not a member? Join AMA now.

A valid driver's licence is needed to drive in Alberta, and is also widely accepted as a standard form of picture ID.

AMA Registries offers services for drivers and non-drivers.

Please come into any AMA Registry centre when you want to:

• Renew your drivers licence
• Replace a lost or stolen drives licence
• Change the address for your drivers licence
• Change the name for your drivers licence
• Exchange your existing out of province drivers licence for an Alberta licence
• Order photo ID, if you're a non-driver
• Request your driver's abstract

AMA Registries does not provide drivers licence testing. If you are ready to write your learners licence exam or take a road test a list of locations is available through Service Alberta.
