What is personal accident insurance?
| Personal accident insurance provides you with protection from injuries sustained in an auto collision or as a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. It also provides protection when you are a paying passenger on an airline flight or common carrier, such as a taxi or bus.
As an AMA member, you automatically receive personal accident insurance coverage as a member-only benefit with your AMA membership. This provides you with up to $10,000 of basic coverage. Now you can upgrade that coverage. You can purchase one of three different coverage options for up to $200,000 in coverage – that’s 20 times the coverage that comes with your membership! |

Why do I need personal accident insurance?
This personal injury insurance coverage protects you not only in the case of auto collisions, but in many travel-related circumstances, like flying in an airplane or boating at the lake. It automatically covers you, your spouse and your dependent children and is an inexpensive way to give yourself an extra level of protection.
This comprehensive injury insurance includes two separate types of coverage:
Coverage A: Personal transportation or as a pedestrian
This accident insurance coverage protects you while driving, riding as a passenger in, boarding or departing from any private passenger automobile, snowmobile, farm vehicle, recreational vehicle, bicycle while used for personal transportation, or other self-propelled land vehicle or watercraft used for pleasure purposes.
Coverage B: On a scheduled airline flight or common carrier
This accident insurance coverage protects you while traveling as a passenger on, or boarding or departing from a scheduled airline flight or common carrier, but not while an operator or a member of the crew.
