AMA's Safe Performance PREMIUM Program is for parents who want the best driver education experience for their child. It is the best choice for students with little or no driving experience.

This course offers new drivers:

  • 18 hours of interactive classroom instruction. (Three hours more than Alberta regulations require.)
  • 14 hours of in-car lessons (seven, two-hour sessions).
  • Proactive Defensive Driver Program (a $129 value). A classroom program to be taken six to 12 months after licensing
  • Home, school, or work pick-up. Some restrictions apply. 
  • Choice of automatic or manual transmission (Manual transmission where available).


This course offers parents/guardians of new drivers:

  • A copy of the AMA Coaching Guide: Provides practical suggestions on how to take an active role in coaching your new driver.
  • Record of Driving Achievement: Helps parents and students track progress throughout the in-vehicle portion of the program.

  • Has an aptitude for driving
  • Has a family that is fully engaged in the learning

  • 18 hours of interactive classroom instruction. (Three hours more than Alberta regulations require.)
  • 10 hours of in-car lessons (Five, two-hour sessions).
  • Optional home pick up (for a small fee). 
  • Automatic transmission.

This course offers parents/guardians of new drivers:
