How Green can your Drive be?

Better fuel economy won't help you win this contest, but it will help you be a more sustainable driver, and help keep some green in your pocket too.

Once you begin tracking your fuel consumption, challenge yourself to follow some of the simple tips listed below to help you save money and you’ll be laughing all the way to the pump.

1. Get your vehicle serviced regularly- Poorly maintained vehicles can increase fuel consumption by 15%.

2. Keep your tires properly inflated- one tire under inflated by  8 psi can increase your vehicle’s fuel consumption by 4%.

3. Plan ahead- combine your trips and avoid rush hour and/or potential construction zones.

4. Reduce unnecessary idling- save over $90/year by reducing  idle time by just 10 minutes a day. Did you know 10 seconds  of idling uses more fuel than restarting your engine?
