Wellness choices - Students will make responsible and informed choices to maintain health and to promote safety for self and others.
Learning about traffic safety offers numerous opportunities for cross-curriculum work in subject areas such as language arts, math, art, music and physical education. The AMA School Safety Patrol™ program also complements existing character education programs in schools.
One of the features on this website's homepage is StreetSmarts™, a fun-filled interactive learning environment with games designed for students of all ages.
Each game found within this interactive community environment has specific learning objectives and students can earn points to purchase virtual prizes. A quiz-based bonus game follows all mini-games as a method of reinforcing key learning objectives.

How much does it cost?
The Alberta Motor Association is pleased to offer the AMA School Safety Patrol™ program as part of its commitment to make communities safer. Equipment and training materials are provided at no cost to the school.
How many patrollers should be on my team?
There is an average of 15 patrollers per single crosswalk for each school. So if your school has 2 crosswalks, you may need as many as 30 patrollers to rotate through a schedule. NEVER have less than 2 patrollers on duty for each single crosswalk.
What if it is really cold?
Excerpted from the School Safety Patrol manual:
What should I do about school zone safety issues such as jaywalking and congestion in front of the school?
An easy way to start is through an education campaign. View some effective safety messages that you are welcome to put into your school newsletter.
The most effective and comprehensive way to address common school zone safety issues is to work with local traffic safety experts in your area. To see what other schools have done, or contact your regional School Patrol Coordinator for additional information and support.
Should I limit the number of patrollers on the team?
Yes, this is a leadership program and sometimes it's helpful to limit the number of patrollers on the School Patrol team.
Show your School Safety Patrol pride and help us celebrate our 75th Anniversary with t-shirts for your patrollers.
The t-shirts are customized with your school name, and come in a variety of colours and sizes to fit youth and adults.
